“Cancer is a word everyone knows. And a word no one wants to hear. Certain cancers are common household names. Most people have heard of leukemia, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. Neuroblastoma, on the other hand, is mysterious to many. Wade’s Wings wants to change that. Because we believe that the only way to conquer this extremely aggressive childhood cancer is to give it a name.” - Heather DeBruin
Strong words from a strong woman, and even more meaningful as we enter Wade's Army's fourth Wade's Day campaign. November 12, 2015 marks four years since young Wade DeBruin passed away from the devastating pediatric cancer, neuroblastoma, and we honor this day. Fundraising begins Wednesday, August 12th and will run up until November 12, 2015.
The DeBruin family did not go silent in the four year span joining forces with the Welbourn's! Using their combined power and energy with the enthusiasm and generosity of over 1900 donors and fundraisers, $150,000 has been raised, 2 Phase 1 pediatric cancer experimental clinical trials have been funded, and direct financial support has been provided for three brave young boys; Jack, Wesley, and Ethan.
Every army needs a uniform! Wade's Army would like to introduce the official 2015 uniform for all of the supporters to wear on Wade's Day, Thursday, November 12, 2015!
Each $30+ donation to our Fundraising Page receives a confirmation number to claim a uniform. This uniform design is available in a Men's T-shirt, Women's Tank Top, and brand new for this year, a Children's T-shirt! These are limited edition uniforms, and must be claimed by October 8th using our claim form found here. All uniforms will be shipping out Monday, October 26th, and will arrive before Wade's Day. We appreciate your donation and your patience.
The fundraising goal for this year is set at $100,000, and we need as much support as we can get! Help spread awareness for the fight against neuroblastoma by liking and sharing our Instagram and Facebook posts. We would also appreciate original photo posts showing off your uniforms and using the #'s: #WadesArmy and #UseYourPowerForGood!
Fundraising pages are easy to set up, just follow the instructions on our Enlist page. We are also accepting sponsors for the Wade's Day uniform, if you are interested in participating, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will also be teaming up with two Maryland based institutions, Jailbreak Brewery and Oldline CrossFit for the Power Athlete Team Event. This will be a 4 person team competition on Saturday, October 10th. Look for more details on the FaceBook event page.
Wade's Army is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations and sponsorship gifts are eligible for tax deductions.
